The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
